TxDOT announces safety improvements for Borger railroad

BORGER, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation announced that Panhandle North Railroad will begin to replace the train track at the intersection of North Florida Street and East 10th Street in Borger on Friday.

According to TxDOT officials, the track is reaching the end of its service life and needs to be replaced. The work is expected to be completed by Oct. 4. Florida Street will be closed at the East 6th and East 10th Street intersections during this time and traffic will be detoured to SH 136/SH 207 (Cedar Street).

Officials noted that message boards and signs will provide further detour information for the traveling public.
