AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Former Dallas Cowboys tight-end Jason Witten, now Head Coach at Liberty Christian Warriors will take on the West Plains Wolves in Canyon. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m., at Happy State Bank Stadium.

The 11-time Pro Bowler was selected as the 69th pick in the third round, by Dallas in the 2003 NFL Draft. He would spend majority of his career in Dallas before retiring with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.

Witten concluded his 17-year playing career, as the Cowboys’ franchise leader in six categories including all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards according to Pro Football Reference. He also holds a host of NFL records including the most consecutive games played by a tight-end, 239, and most the receptions in a single game by a tight-end, 18.

Witten became head coach of the program in 2021, and struggled with a 2-8 season. Last year he and the Warriors captured a Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) Division II state championship win.
