PORTALES, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — Eastern New Mexico University announced that it has partnered with TimelyCare, higher education’s most trusted virtual health and well-being provider, to offer students free and equitable access to mental health support and medical care.

According to officials with ENMU, the partnership is an extension of campus counseling center resources and will provide students with 24/7 health care to improve student well-being, engagement, and retention.

“We want to meet students where they are, and TimelyCare allows us to do that. This platform supports all ENMU students, including those online, allowing us to provide health and wellness services, thereby supporting their well-being and allowing them to focus on their educational journey and experiences at ENMU,” said Christy Johanson, vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. “TimelyCare also allows us to go beyond the barriers of time constraints and makes services available to students when they need it, at their convenience. I am very excited about the launch of this platform and hope the student body shares in my excitement as they explore the many resources they have at their fingertips.”

ENMU officials state that ENMU students can now select from a menu of virtual care options from licensed physicians and counselors in all 50 states and at no cost without the barrier of traditional insurance including:

    • On-demand and appointment-based medical care
    • On-demand mental health and emotional support (TalkNow)
    • Appointment-based mental health counseling (up to 12 sessions each academic year)
    • Psychiatric support
    • Student success coaching
    • Care navigation
    • Peer support community
    • Digital self-care content

Officials also stated the partnership with TimelyCare allows ENMU to deliver a hybrid model of care in collaboration with on-campus resources with benefits including:

    • Convenient 24/7 care
    • Reduced wait times
    • A diverse provider network
    • Peace of mind

“With nearly seven out of 10 students reporting that they experience mental health issues such as stress, anxiety or depression, expanded access to virtual health and well-being interventions like TimelyCare has never been more important,” said Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare. “Ultimately, supporting students means providing access to care whenever and wherever they need it.”
