Pursuit starts in Hillsboro, ends with crash in Milford

HILL COUNTY / ELLIS COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – A pursuit begins in Hillsboro and ends with a rollover crash in Milford.

Officers with the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety (HDPS) were conducting routine patrols at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday. The officers witnessed a white Dodge traveling at a high rate of speed on Waco Street. Due to this violation, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.

After attempting to conduct a traffic stop, the suspect vehicle failed to yield and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle fled northbound on State Highway 77 and eventually left Hillsboro city limits. The vehicle continued into Ellis County and entered into Milford city limits.

HDPS says the suspect continued to drive reckless and started driving on the wrong side of the roadway, going head on with other vehicles. The suspect eventually lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and rolled over in a single vehicle accident.

Officers were able to make contact with the suspect and removed him from the vehicle in order to render medical aid. The suspect was ultimately air lifted to Parkland Hospital in stable condition.

This crash is being investigated by Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol. The Hill County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS Highway Patrol, Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, Milford Volunteer Fire Department, Allegiance Medical Ambulance and Air Evac 53 also assisted in this case.
