    West Texas A&M Athletics to launch Excellence Fund

    CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The West Texas A&M Athletics program announced that its set to launch a Athletics Excellence Fund, aiming to create the best experience for its athletes.

    According to WT Athletics, the fund will be unrestricted within the Buffalo Club which supports WT’s athletes.

    Officials said the goal of the fund will be to create new strategies for the Buffalo Club to provide athletes with continued growth, sustainability, and championship excellence.

    “The Excellence Fund is an opportunity for our community of donors and supporters to have a positive impact on current and future Buffaloes. The fund will elevate the department’s overall operation through technology, business efficiencies, data collection and athletic performance that will result in a competitive advantage for our university” added Lipinski “We are commitment to creating the best student-athlete experience while also improving our fan experience. For WT athletics to be elite in all we do, we will need to take the next stop in our revenue generation processes.”

    Success in the Texas Panhandle Since 2006

    • Nine national championships and more than 100 Lone Star Conference and NCAA regional championships;
    • Nearly $100 million in new athletics facilities construction and renovations;
    • More than $40 million in gifts and external support for scholarships, facilities and team operating funds;
    • Top 10 finishes in the NCAA Division II Directors Cup every year since 2013;
    • New attendance and ticket records in every sport;
    • The first institution in the LSC to provide full scholarship funding to all women’s teams;
    • A 37% improvement in the academic success rate and GPAs of student-athletes.

    “WT has a rich history of success and now is the time to take the next step in our university’s growth as the institution of higher education for the Texas Panhandle and beyond. There are so many changes in the world of intercollegiate athletics that it has created an opportunity for WT Athletics to rise to the top during these unprecedented times,” said Vice President of Athletics Doug Lipinski.
