Eastern New Mexico University Recognized amongst Best Colleges for 2025

PORTALES, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — Eastern New Mexico University earns recognition as a U.S. News and World Report “Best College,” ranking amongst the best colleges in 2025.

According to a ENMU press release, the university ranked 46th out of 115 in the social mobility for regional universities in the west, moving up 24 spots from the previous rankings in 2024.

Social Mobility rankings are determined by a schools ability to graduate students who are at an economic disadvantage and are less likely to finish college.

ENMU was ranked in the following categories:

• #96 in Regional Universities in the West
• #50 in Top public Universities in the West
• #46 in Top Performers Social Mobility

Universities recognized in this category are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by offering students Pell Grants. Officials said most of these federal grants are awarded to students whose family adjusted gross income is under $50,000.

“While it is great to be recognized nationally for our work, the ranking in social mobility highlights the importance of regional comprehensive universities like ENMU,” said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. “We provide high quality, accessible higher education opportunities to all students with a demonstrated track record of student success. We help change the socio-economic status of many of our students through the life-changing accomplishment of earning a college degree.”

The released added that ENMU was also ranked as one of the top 50 Public Universities in the West and one of the top 100 Regional Universities in the West.
