BOYS RANCH, Texas (KAMR/KCIT)-With a few rodeos under her belt Faithlynn is ready to shine as the face of the rodeo for the 80th Annual Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch Rodeo and Fall Fest.

Faithlynn and her sister went to Boys Ranch six years ago, as their grandmother was raising four grandchildren and wanted to find help for Faithlynn and younger sister.

After being at Boys Ranch, Faithlynn decided to give rodeo a try.

“I was like, Oh, this is so easy,” said Faithlynn. “Well, when I first came, we had to do time trials. Nowadays, we just make it. But when I first started, you had a time trial, and you had to get top eight or something. And my first year trying it, I remember I got it, and my sister didn’t. I felt really upset for her. But at the same time, I grew a love for rodeo, as much as I didn’t think I was going to.”

What kept Faithlynn coming back is her love for the rodeo, passion and the fun she has riding and getting to experience new things on horses. Also fueling her passion and competition is that she’ll compete against her sister Nevaeh for the first time.

“My competition is my sister,” said Faithlynn. “I am looking forward to beating her. But if I do beat her, there’s a saddle you get. I’m going to give it to her, because she deserves it.”

For Faithlynn one of the best features of Boys Ranch is the community and having a second home.

“When I go home and I come back, sometimes you’d picture like a kid really upset,” said Faithlynn. “But in reality, when you get back, you have a whole bunch of friends and family that are like, here for you, like you may not be family by blood, but you are family.”

One of the greatest lessons Faithlynn has learned at Boys Ranch is to not to judge a kid and to cherish the memories they make.

“A lot of people judge people that are out here, but in reality, you don’t know why they are here and sometimes it’s not their fault they’re here,” explained Faithlynn. “It’s really special, because there’s most people I wouldn’t have ever known if I hadn’t come out here. And I have a lot of strong bonds here with people, so it’s very nice to get to make some memories with them.
