80th annual Boys Ranch Rodeo: Face of the rodeo Nevaeh

BOYS RANCH, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) -This year Nevaeh is one of four faces of the rodeo for the 80th Annual Rodeo and Fall Fest and competing against her sister Faithlynn for the first time.

Nevaeh and Faithlynn came to Boys Ranch six years ago. Their grandmother was raising the two sisters and two other grandchildren, when Boys Ranch became an option to help the girls.

Nevaeh, was first interested in rodeo because of the horses, but stayed because of the challenge and growth.

“I just saw the horses and found them attractive,” said Nevaeh. “Then I heard that they had rodeos where you can do all this fun stuff, like poles and barrels. I tried out my first year, didn’t make it, but during my second year, I made it, and then I just evolved over the time. I guess I could say I’m good.”

This year Nevaeh shared she’s looking forward to trying to beat her sister but shared it’s special having her sister with her because she knows someone will always have her back.

I tried to focus as hard as I can and try to figure out which way make could make me better,” shared Nevaeh.

Being at Boys Ranch has helped Nevaeh realize the importance of family and the opportunities that come your way.

“It’s very special just knowing that you actually have people here that want to come see you and support you, even if they don’t know you, they still want to do that, which is really nice,” said Nevaeh. “I’d tell kids out here take advantage of these opportunities that they give you. Like rodeo. You never know, something good can happen out of it, like sports or education.”
