    Kanawha County fire department shut down for failing to provide workers compensation

    CHARLESTON, WV (LOOTPRESS) -A Kanawha County fire department has been shut down for purportedly failing to provide worker’s compensation to its employees.

    According to the West Virginia State Fire Marshal , the Loudendale Volunteer Fire Department was closed down on Wednesday for purported failure to maintain coverage for workers compensation.

    The State Fire Marshal reiterated in an announcement that all fire departments operating in State of West Virginia are required to provide their service members with workers compensation coverage.

    It has been confirmed that, in the wake of the shut down of the Loudendale Volunteer Fire Department, fire coverage in the area will be provided other fire departments until such a time as the workers comp issue can be resolve.

    It has not indicated specifically which departments will be taking on coverage for the Loudendale area of Kanawha County in the interim.
