    Child dies after falling into Kankakee River

    KANKAKEE, Ill. — A child has died after they fell into the Kankakee River on Tuesday afternoon.

    According to Kankakee Mayor Chris Curtis, the 6-year-old boy fell off the dock and into the river at Beckham Park, near the 1600 block of Cobb Boulevard, just after 3 p.m.

    Crews began recovery efforts, but the child was eventually found dead around 5:20 p.m

    SkyCam9 was over the scene on Tuesday as crews were searching the river.
