Fatal crash closes major Kannapolis road: NCDOT

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and a major road is shut down in Kannapolis from a crash Friday night.

According to N.C Department of Transportation and Kannapolis Police, the incident occurred around 7 p.m. July 26 on Dale Earnhardt Blvd at Coldwater Ridge Drive.

Officials say two vehicles were involved in the crash. A passenger in one of the vehicles passed away due to their injuries. It is unclear whether anyone else was injured.

The road is closed between Roxie Street and Old Earnhardt Blvd., just west of Interstate 85.

The road is expected to be cleared by 10:50 p.m.

The public is asked to avoid the area. This is an active investigation.
