Update : The weather forecast has led some Kansas City area fireworks shows to be delayed .

Weather forecasts this week around Kansas City predict rainfall on Thursday, which could put a halt to some of the area’s Independence Day fireworks shows .

Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to develop in the Kansas City area , and the wet weather will linger in the Kansas City area through the holiday.

“Repeated rounds of thunderstorms continue Wednesday and Thursday with chances for strong to severe storms,” the National Weather Service said.

It’s less likely to rain Wednesday, when a few fireworks displays are scheduled in the area. Here’s where you can go see fireworks before the Fourth of July.

    Kansas City

The Royals will have a combination fireworks and drone show after their game Wednesday featuring more than 300 drones plus pyrotechnics. A ticket to the game is required for entry.

    Blue Springs

You can celebrate the holiday early in Blue Springs with live music, food trucks, vendors and more. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.

    Lee’s Summit

This free fireworks show will be synced to music played over the radio. Consider going early Wednesday, event organizers say, because parking often fills up by 8:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30. In case of rain, the event will move to Friday, July 5.

    Kearney

The annual event in Kearney will feature a performance from the band Switch before fireworks begin at 9:30 a.m. There are also inflatables and other entertainment for kids leading up to the show.

    Edgerton

The Johnson County city will host a community picnic with a DJ, inflatables and, of course, food. Parking at the event is limited, but free shuttles are available from other locations around town. The sky will light up around 9:45 p.m.
