Travis Kelce snubs chance to meet Meghan and Harry after getting cozy with William at Taylor show

Travis Kelce seems to have given the Royal cold shoulder, missing out on a chance to mingle with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at the ESPYs . Despite being invited to the event where his team, the Kansas City Chiefs, were nominated for Best Team, Kelce was conspicuously absent from the evening's proceedings.

Before the event kicked off, ESPN's guest list confirmed that Kelce's name was nowhere to be seen , signalling his decision to dodge the glamorous awards night. His fellow Chief, Patrick Mahomes, also gave the ceremony a miss, even though he won the Best Athlete in Men's Sports award.

The responsibility of representing the Chiefs fell to head coach Andy Reid, while Mahomes' family members, including his mother Randi and sister Mia Randall, attended and were photographed with the Royal couple.

However, Kelce forfeited the opportunity to meet Prince Harry at the Dolby Theatre celebration in LA, an encounter that could have followed his recent pleasant interaction with Prince William at Taylor Swift's London concert .

Recalling the experience on his 'New Heights' podcast, Kelice shared his enthusiasm: "Dude, he [Prince William] was the coolest mother ------."

"He was awesome. He was so cool. I didn't realise this because obviously we were backstage meeting him because he was there with little George and Charlotte, and they were an absolute delight to meet. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to like bow to them, curtsy, just be an American idiot and shake their hand."

"But they said that because we weren't at like an official royal event, we didn't need to bow or curtsy. If it would have been like an official meeting of royalty event, then it would have been that. But I did still address him as Your Royal Highness."

Kelce took a selfie with William and his two eldest children, Charlotte and George, at the concert on June 21. Swift said on social media: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start."

The Prince and Princess of Wales posted: "Thank you Taylor Swift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour."

However, Kelce didn't meet Harry, who was in the city to be presented with the Pat Tillman Award for Service. When asked weeks before if they might cross paths, a source told The Sun: "It could be interesting given how much Travis hit it off with William."

"Travis is like the most sociable, happy go lucky, kind person in any room and is sure to want to say hello to the Prince and interact with the Sussexes. That is his style, and honestly he is one of the biggest names in US sport. For Harry it could be a potentially awkward encounter given that Travis spoke so warmly about and praised William."

"This will make headlines no matter what happens. If Harry ducks Travis that would look weird and if they chat the question will be whether they discussed William."

Despite the hype, the two celebrities never ended up meeting. However, Kelce was mentioned during the show, as reported by the Mirror US.

In her opening speech, host Serena Williams made a witty remark about this year's sports achievements: "Patrick Mahomes and Taylor Swift's boyfriend won a Super Bowl."
