"This is one way that we can do this by tapping kids early so that they know that this is an incredible career with limitless potential, an opportunity," said Dr. Patrick Robinson, president at Research College of Nursing. Eleven students took part in a nursing experience with high-tech simulations, hands-on sessions, and learning what it’s like to be a nurse."I want to be a doctor when I’m older or like a vet," said Lorelai, a fourth-grader. The need for more nurses is crucial amid the nationwide shortage. "This is about reaching to the next generation. So there is a critical nationwide nursing shortage and the Kansas City area is certainly not spared from that. So we need to grow that pipeline and we need to grow with the best and the brightest," Robinson said. The brightest people, even some of the youngest people, want to help people in a career in health care. "I want to be a nurse because I want to help people, and it's also very fun," Lorelai said. The college welcomed students from fourth grade to 12th grade.</div></body>
