    One person killed in shooting near E. 69th Terrace, Brooklyn Avenue

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police detectives are investigating after one person was killed in a shooting Thursday afternoon.

    The shooting was reported just before 3 p.m. in the area of E. 69th Terrace and Brooklyn Avenue, just east of The Paseo.

    Warrensburg woman facing charges for allegedly abusing child

    When officers arrived on scene they located a man unresponsive on the sidewalk in front of a residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The victim has been identified as Cortez Caples, 32.

    KCPD said the preliminary investigation indicates Caples had an interaction with an unknown suspect or suspects at the location that led to gunfire and Caples was struck. The suspect or suspects then left the scene in an unknown direction.

    Detectives are continuing to work the scene looking for evidence and witnesses.
