Christmas in July: Hallmark releases 250 never-before seen ornaments

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — For more than 50 years, Hallmark has been making Christmas ornaments and one of their traditions is to release more than half of them in July.

There are now 250 never-before-seen ornaments now available at Hallmark stores across the country.

Every year, 19 artists design more than 450 ornaments. Some are part of a series. Some represent Disney, Star Wars or another famous movie.

These artists create these ornaments two years ahead of time, drawing them, sculpting them, and painting them.

They also work with a group of engineers to bring their creations to life with lights, music, and motion.

“Every ornament represents some memory so when I am thinking about Harry Potter, my kids and I read Harry Potter together, we want to make sure that we have ornaments that represent that or for somebody who got married or had a baby, we have an ornament for every kind of milestone in your life,” said Studio Editorial Director Lindsay Evans.

Evans said Hallmark will release 200 more ornaments in October, including a Travis Kelce one.

The ornaments released Thursday will be available through Christmas.
