KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One suspect connected to the deadly shooting that happened right after the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade and rally faces a new charge, according to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors say a grand jury indicted 23-year-old Lyndell Mays for Causing Catastrophe, a Class A felony, by releasing a stampede of people where 10 or more were hurt.

As the investigation into the shooting continues, the prosecutor’s office is asking for anyone who was hurt to the point where they needed medical treatment to call (816) 881-3513.

Mays, along with 19-year-old Dominic Miller, who’s accused of shooting the bullet that killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan , and 21-year-old Terry Young , all face second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action. Mays is the only suspect presently charged with Causing Catastrophe.

Additionally, three juvenile suspects are facing charges in the shooting where Lopez-Galvan died and at least 25 other victims were hurt, many of whom were children. Investigators say the victims were caught in crossfire and chaos after an argument between two groups escalated into an exchange of gunfire.

All of the suspects have pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor’s office expects Mays will be arraigned on the charge Monday, and online court records show he’s due back in court on Monday, August 26.
