    KCFD investigating Wednesday morning fire at vacant home

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire at a vacant home Wednesday morning.

    According to KCFD, at about 7 a.m., crews reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the two-story home at E. 49th Street and Walrond Avenue.

    KCFD said offensive operations were performed using multiple handlines to control the fire.

    Afterward, crews searched the home and confirmed that everything came back clear.

    One firefighter was treated on the scene for heat-related issues, KCFD said.

    The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
