    Things to do in Kansas City this weekend July 26-28

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — No matter what part of the Kansas City area you live in, it looks like there’s a festival, live performance or sporting event to check out this weekend.

    Here are 10 events going on this weekend — July 26 through July 28 — that are worth checking out.

    Olivia Rodrigo at T-Mobile Center

    Popstar Olivia Rodrigo is coming to T-Mobile Center for her GUTS World Tour. This is the singer’s first arena tour. It’s also her first show in Kansas City. Rodrigo has multiple hit songs, including her hit single “Driver’s License.”

    The concert starts at 7:30 on Friday night.

    “Moulin Rouge” at the Music Hall

    The popular film comes to life on stage in this Tony Award-winning musical. Enter a world of splendor and romance as “Moulin Rouge” comes to Kansas City on its first US tour.

    The show is at Music Hall. The show started it’s showing on July 23 and goes until Aug. 24. Click here to find tickets.

    Chiefs Training Camp practice

    Open practices began last weekend and will conclude on Thursday, August 15 at Missouri Western State University. Training Camp starts at 9:15 a.m. all weekend.

    All training camp practices will be free of charge to the public unless otherwise noted below or online. Training camp tickets must be reserved in advance while supplies last on the Chiefs’ website .

    Olathe concert series

    Olathe Live! presents Big Time Grain Co on Friday. Big Time Grain Co features two brothers from western Kansas, doing what they love. This act was chosen to perform at the Royal’s World Series Celebration Rally for an 800,000-plus crowd at Union Station.

    The concert starts at 7 p.m. at Stagecoach Park.

    Ultimate Pool USA

    Ultimate Pool USA is coming to Kansas City for a weekend of exciting 8-Ball action. On Friday, they will hold the ‘Kansas City Shootout’. The fast-paced and exciting tournament will bring together the top players from across the world of cue sports in an event that puts their skills to the test.

    On Saturday and Sunday, they will host the Kansas City Open. The events will be held at Side Pockets in Blue Springs.

    Kansas City Royals vs Chicago Cubs

    The Kansas City Royals take on the Chicago Cubs this weekend in a series at Kauffman Stadium. They’ll try to get back in the groove after losing the series to the Diamondbacks this week.

    The three-game series against Chicago begins Friday at 7:10. There’s also a Patrick Mahomes bobblehead giveaway tonight for the first 15,000 fans. Tickets start at $45.

    Liberty Fest

    Liberty Fest fireworks are on Friday night! Friday is the date for the rained-out fireworks show originally scheduled for July 3. The city said they’ll still have all the bounce houses and food trucks originally planned for the holiday — on Friday!

    You’ll need a $10 parking pass from the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. It’s from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Capitol Federal Sports Complex.

    Show ‘n’ Shine Car Show and Potato Festival

    The National Agriculture Hall of Fame is hosting the “Show ‘n’ Shine Car Show and Potato Festival.” You and your family are invited to come check out street rods, classics, trucks — and a potato patch.

    A 1K tater trot starts at 10:30 qa.m. Sunday, with potato-related family games and races from 11 to 2. You can dig in the potato patch and take home your own spud. That’s Sunday at the National Agricultural Center on North 126th Street.

    Shrek the Musical

    Starlight Theater invites you to fall in love “all ogre again” — at Shrek the Musical. It’s Friday through Sunday at the outdoor theater.

    Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. tonight, Saturday and Sunday. Tickets start at just $12.

    Weekender at Crown Center

    Crown Center invites you to the Weekender with food trucks, live music, and a classic movie under the stars. “The Accidental Moguls” will perform at 6 p.m. Friday at Crown Center Square.

    Then the movie “Dungeons and Dragons” begins at 9. It’s not the recent “Honor among Thieves” Dungeons and Dragons movie that got great reviews. This is the 2000 Dungeons and Dragons movie with a nine percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
