During my visit to Q39 South, I was blown away by the thoughtful flavors that made the meal truly wonderful. The combo plate, the Mr. Burns, a smoked beef brisket dip, and the pork belly appetizer were all standouts. The beef and onion rings came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. However, I found the chicken wings a tad too salty and the pork tacos were just average.
The barbecue establishment is a must-visit when you're in the Kansas City area. The brisket, chicken, and pork belly were all great. However, the sides could use a bit of work. The baked beans had a cumin seasoning that reminded me more of Mexican food than barbecue, and the potato salad was a bit too salty and mushy.
Despite the minor hiccups, the food was amazing overall. The onion straws, nachos, Buffalo Chicken sandwich, ribs, pork banh mi, p.b.l.t, slab of ribs, Mac and Cheese, and combo plates were all hits. The mac and cheese and creme brulee were especially delightful. The burnt ends and wings were also good. I'm already planning my next visit to Q39 South!
