Area departments receive grants
TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s (KDHE) Community Health Promotion program is pleased to announce that the recipients of this year’s Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) Community grant. In total, the State Fiscal Year 2024 CDRR program covers: 17 grantees, 30 counties and 1,993,817 Kansans (67.8 percent of the total Kansas population).

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Meteorologist Dean Jones says rain and scattered storms will continue across Kansas on Sunday as a cold front continues to push through the state. The risk of severe weather will be minimal throughout the day, however heavy downpours and lightning may be an issue with some of the stronger storms through the afternoon.
Mann: Border and farm bill topic at town halls
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Kansas First District Congressman Tracey Mann has been doing town halls across the state while home for the Independence Day holiday. "The thing that comes up over and over again is the border is just top of mind for people as it should be, you know, this wide open southern border is an absolute chaotic debacle, everybody's seen it for what it is," Mann said. "The other thing is inflation is still hitting people, you know, across our economy, people that are on fixed incomes, our seniors are especially impacted by that."

Kansas child care providers likely will soon be able to take in more children, care for more infants and work under new health and safety training requirements. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has proposed 37 changes to current regulations to strip away burdensome regulations and clarify language — some aimed at easing rules to fit more children into existing child care centers.
