Hot this weekend and into next week, but there are signs of change. Portions of northwest Arkansas will have a very slight chance for isolated showers and storms this afternoon as a weak disturbance moves through the region. Highs today and Sunday should reach the mid 90s with heat index temperatures around 100 degrees. There could be slightly drier air Sunday lowering the heat index a couple degrees, but it will still be hot. It will get even hotter next week with highs near 100 Tuesday and Wednesday. A slight chance for isolated showers and storms is expected Thursday and this will be mainly driven by daytime heating. The chance increases Friday as a new front approaches. We may have a cooler and drier air mass move in during the Labor Day weekend. We’ll keep you updated. -Todd Yakoubian
