Gallery: Hot Springs brings in MLB legends for 7th annual Baseball Weekend

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – This weekend, Hot Springs celebrated the city’s fame as the birthplace of Major League Baseball Spring Training with its 7th annual Baseball Weekend.

The event kicked off Friday night with a screening of “It Ain’t Over”, a documentary about baseball icon Yogi Berra, as well as a panel featuring Cardinals legend Al “The Mad Hungarian” Hrabosky.

On Saturday, the festivities kicked off with a meeting of the Society for American Baseball Research featuring Babe Ruth historian and author, Frank Amoroso.

There was also a baseball card show and panels with MLB Hall of Famers Robin Yount, Goose Gossage and Johnny Bench hosted by Arkansas broadcasting icon Rex Nelson.

Baseball weekend concluded with an Ask the Pros panel featuring Bench, Yount, Gossage, Hrabosky, as well as former Cardinals catcher Ted Simmons and former Razorback Tom Pagnozzi.

During a panel with Yount, who spent his entire 20-year career with the Milwaukee Brewers, he admitted that this convention was his first time in Arkansas and that he was glad to check the state off his list of places to visit.

Next August, the Spa City will also be hosting the 2025 Babe Ruth League World Series, an event that will bring 18 youth baseball teams from around the world for 10 days from Aug. 7-16, 2025.
