CLINTON, Ark. – Thousands of people brought their horses and plenty of wagons to a small town in central Arkansas for a national championship this weekend.

The National Championship Chuckwagon Races are being held in Clinton, Arkansas over the weekend.

Roger Carson has come all the way from Iowa to attend the races.

“It’s the most western, exciting thing in this area or in the United States,” Carson said.

Carson has been attending the races for five years in a row now, but in that time the races have changed. New entertainment was added last year for the crowd: bull riding.

Chase Outlaw, a professional bull riding champion, said his family has been racing here for 25 years. After talking to the founders, Dan and Peggy Eoff, he got to add to the races with the sport he loves.

“When I was 14, I said, ‘We need to buck bulls and have bull riding here’ and here we are. We’re two years into it,” he said.

The races will continue through the weekend, ending with an awards ceremony following the final race.
