    Homer Adkins Elementary School placed on lockdown after police respond to nearby home

    JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – Police in Jacksonville said that an elementary school was placed on lockdown after authorities responded to police call at a nearby home Thursday morning.

    According to the Jacksonville Police Department, officers responded to a home near Homer Adkins Elementary regarding a 16-year-old boy with a weapon at 8:30 a.m.

    Teen charged with killing 4 at Georgia high school was focus of earlier threat tips

    Officers said the teen left the scene and they were unable to locate him. Investigators said he did not make any threats, but the elementary school was placed on lockdown as a precaution.

    The lockdown has been lifted and the area is believed to be safe, police said.

    Investigators said they believe the teen is outside of the city limits. Police describe the teen as a 16-year-old boy with long hair wearing black pants and a black shirt.
