    Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas dispatches line workers to Louisiana in preparation for Tropical Storm Francine

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas is extending a helping hand to Louisiana in preparation for the effects of Tropical Storm Francine.

    Officials with the energy company said that 55 line workers, utility vehicles and construction equipment were dispatched to assist DEMCO in Central City, Louisiana with potential power restoration.

    The line workers are with the Arkansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. of Little Rock. Company officials said that additional crews and the local electric cooperatives in the state are on standby if more help is needed.

    As of Tuesday morning, Tropical Storm Francine was close to Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. It is expected to strengthen into a hurricane before reaching the Louisiana coastline.

    The storm path is expected to bring heavy rain and gusty winds to parts of Arkansas, with some areas potentially having up to four inches of rainfall and winds of 30 mph.
