    Interstate 40 re-opens after vehicle fire slows westbound traffic near Maumelle

    MAUMELLE, Ark. – Interstate 40 has been re-opened after a vehicle fire slowed westbound traffic near Maumelle Friday afternoon.

    Officials with the Arkansas Department of Transportation reported the crash just before 1 p.m. just two miles north of Maumelle.

    Traffic officials said that the fire initially affected all lanes.

    Officials have not released the cause of the vehicle fire, but said that nobody was injured in the incident.

    Traffic was slowly getting past the fire, but a backup stretched back about half way back to the Highway 365 exchange.
