ROWLAND, Ark. – With duck season approaching, hunters across the state are getting geared up. But if dry conditions continue in central Arkansas, it could massively impact hunters.

Bo Bradford has been duck hunting since he was a kid. He says without rain, there will be dry fields, less food, and less habitat for the ducks.

Arkansas hunters reflect as duck season comes to a close

“Arkansas has always been known as one of the duck hunting capitals of the world. And you have people come from all over the United States to hunt here,” Bradford said.

He says this season there will be a lot less ducks to hunt than there typically are if the state doesn’t get some rain soon.

Arkansas duck population hits record low in slow hunting season

“Every day that you get up and there’s no rain, with duck season creeping up,” Bradford said, “As of right now there’s nothing to look forward to.”

He says despite the dry conditions, there are still ways to duck hunt like on rivers. And there will be hunters participating this season rain or shine.
