LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas is no stranger to stray animals and Little Rock Animal Village is always full, but with a new expansion, there’s more room to keep these fur babies safe.

Betsy Robb is a volunteer who says the improvements were well needed.

“It’s going to give staff and volunteers a lot more room to work and more flexibility and being able to care for the thousands of animals that they do a year,” Robb said.

The ribbon-cutting welcomed a new beginning, and then leaders gave a tour showing the changes made.

There are now 40 new kennels, along with better flooring and intake areas. Leaders say the facility now has more than a thousand inches of square feet.

Mayor Frank Scott Jr. decided to test out one of the new areas by washing a dog. It was a nice interactive activity that Animal Village leaders all helped with.

“You can tell that this is an updated animal facility, when you want to see new things when you want to upgrade an existing thing it takes sales tax dollars in the city of little rock,” Scott said.

Leaders say you can help by simply donating, volunteering, or fostering.
