Texans impacted by April 26 - June 5 storms may be eligible for FEMA's help to repair or replace car
Thousands of Texans whose vehicles were damaged by the flooding during the storms between April 26 and June 5 could be eligible for FEMA assistance to repair or replace them.According to a release by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, its financial help covers expenses not paid by insurance or other sources.SEE ALSO: Hurricane Beryl Recovery Fund launched after storm devastates 68,000 Harris County homes"The damage to the vehicle must have been caused by the disaster, and the vehicle must no longer be operable or safe to drive. Cosmetic repairs will not be covered," FEMA wrote.Some other conditions include:Assistance is usually limited to one vehicle. Louisiana caretaker found guilty of shaking toddler to death
SHREVEPORT, La. (TCN) -- A woman has been convicted of killing a toddler she was caring for in her home in 2020. The Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office announced that a jury found 42-year-old Tatianna Burns guilty on Thursday, July 11, of second-degree murder in connection with the death of an 18-month-old child, identified by the Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate as Angel Wong. Burns is set to appear in court again on July 23 and faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence.

Shreveport Woman Sentenced to 40 Years for Stabbing Death
A Shreveport woman who killed an elderly man in the Sunset Acres neighborhood with a knife pleaded guilty to the slaying this week and was sentenced to 40 years at hard labor. LaKendra Wesley, 37, pleaded guilty Tuesday, July 16, 2024 to manslaughter in the June 2018 death of Kenneth Miller before District Judge Ramona Emanuel. Wesley also pleaded guilty to unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, receiving a six-year sentence, to be served concurrently with the manslaughter term.
