Minnesota DNR has added No. 11 to its pool of Scientific & Natural Areas (SNA) in Lake Superior's Minnesota neighborhood, it announced this week. "The new 25 acre Icelandite Coastal Fen Scientific and Natural Area was acquired by the DNR with help from Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and Reinvest in Minnesota. The site is 11 miles northeast of Grand Marais and is one of only two known fens on coastal wetlands on Minnesota's North Shore." This aerial view by T. ARCO, Idaho (eastidahonews.com) — Roberta Armstrong has had a good life but still wonders from time to time how it would have been different had her father lived. Lt. Robert W. Madsen of Minnesota died in a training crash 80 years ago at what’s now known as Idaho National Laboratory. It was a training ground for World War II aviators in the early 1940s.
At Least One St. Cloud Area School Will Offer Boys Volleyball in 2025
The Minnesota State High School League approved boys volleyball as a high school sport last year. The first season of boys high school volleyball as a full fledged sport in Minnesota will be during the 2024-2025 school year. The season will be offered in the spring of 2025. Cathedral Activities Director Emmett Keenan is a former MSHSL board member and active participant within the league. He says the largest interest in the state in the sport is in the Twin Cities metro where enrollments are larger and the following appears greater.
