Here is a list of Katy-based and virtual resources for transgender youth and their families.
Resources for transgender youth
Transparent Closet
Who they are: A free clothing boutique for transgender and gender-exploring youth, teens and young adults, put together by Katy Pride.
What they offer: Heaps of clothing, undergarments, accessories and makeup. They can also assist with obtaining binders.

KPlace
Who they are: A social resource for LGBTQ+ Katy youth created by Katy Pride and First Christian Church Katy.
What they offer: An inclusive gathering space, weekly activities such as game nights, support from professionals and organizations such as PFLAG .

Katy Budget Books
Who they are: A used bookstore located in Katy.
What they offer: A selection of books featuring LGBTQ+ and gender-exploring characters that may not be found in Katy ISD libraries. The store also hosts specific events and book clubs, such as a Banned Book Club.

Tony’s Place
Who they are: A resource center in Houston that helps meet various needs of LGBTQ+ people across the Houston region.
What they offer: An array of services for LGBTQ+ people aged 13 to 25, including: meals, clothing and hygiene assistance; help finding housing; support services, such as peer groups and safe spaces prioritizing acceptance; training and informative presentations on LGBTQ+ youth; and one-on-one case management.

Out for Education
Who they are: A scholarship-granting nonprofit created by PFLAG and HATCH Youth.
What they offer: Educational scholarships for LGBTQ+ Houston-area students.

Hatch Youth
Who they are: An organization that provides LGBTQ+ youth aged 7 to 20 with a place to socialize with their peers.

Parents of Trans Youth
Who they are: A nonprofit that offers support, resources and education to parents of transgender youth.
What they offer: Support groups for parents, online courses, and education and guidance on supporting transgender youth.

Trans Legal Aid Clinic Texas
Who they are: Volunteer attorneys that help transgender people through the legal aspects of transitioning their gender.
What they offer: Education and legal assistance for transgender people seeking to change their name or gender marker on official documents, such as driver’s licenses and birth certificates.

PFLAG Houston
Who they are: A nonprofit that gives caregivers of LGBTQ+ children a place to learn about others’ experiences and stories and how to support them. The group is made of parents, caregivers, family and friends.
What they offer: Peer-led support groups around the Houston area. General meetings include educational information for caregivers to learn about issues impacting the community and how to support their children.

The Trevor Project
Who they are: A nonprofit that aims to prevent suicide among LGBTQ+ youth.
What they offer: The Trevor Project has 24/7 crisis intervention and support services for LGBTQ+ people under the age of 25.

Who they are: A national network of suicide and crisis lifeline centers that provides around-the-clock support.
What they offer: A free, 24/7 hotline for people struggling with mental health issues, a website with resources for people struggling with mental health and online resources for LGBTQ+ youth. Chat and texting options are available in English and Spanish, while the hotline is offered in about 240 languages.
