$23.7 million Thruway bridge replacement in Esopus underway
TOWN OF ESOPUS – The State has begun a major $23.7 million superstructure bridge replacement project on the Thruway (Interstate 87) in the Esopus in Ulster County. The approximately 360-foot-long, three-span structure bridge carries Thruway mainline traffic in both directions over the Wallkill River and State Route 213 between Exit 18 (New Paltz-Poughkeepsie) and Exit 19 (Kingston). Approximately 54,000 vehicles travel the bridge per day in both directions. The span opened to traffic in 1955 and is among the 75 percent of Thruway bridges that are more than 60 years old.

Maher steps up to help 5-year-old Chester girl battling cancer
CHESTER – Assemblyman Brian Maher (R, Walden) describes 5-year-old Lilly Fernandez as a fun and spunky girl who has a love for music, singing, and dancing. Fernandez’s story resonates with Maher so much because the little girl reminds him of his daughter. Young Lilly was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) in March and Maher has organized a team to support the Fernandez family, which includes fundraising.
