Union County commissioners name interim sheriff

UNION COUNTY, S.D. (KCAU) — Union County commissioners have named an interim sheriff following the passing of longtime sheriff Dan Limoges.

Chief Deputy Jim Prouty will serve in the interim role until November, when voters will elect a new sheriff. Prouty joined the Union County Sheriff’s Department in 2011.

Funeral services for Dan Limoges, who passed away unexpectedly at 64 at his home Tuesday, are on Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. in the Elk Point-Jefferson High School gym.
