SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A candidate has thrown his hat into the ring for a local Iowa House seat.

Noah Wieseler announced his campaign for the 13th District in the Iowa House of Representatives. House District 13 covers parts of Woodbury, Plymouth, and Cherokee counties and Monona County.

As a Republican, Wieseler said in a statement that if he’s elected, he’ll support policies that limit government overreach and promote economic development. He also said that “families and rural communities are the lifeblood and wealth of Iowa,” adding that he wants to ensure that state resources stay local and police decisions start at the grassroots level.

“After the fundamental right to life, the traditional family is the foundation and building block of a successful community, state and nation. I will strive to preserve traditional family values, promote policies that strengthen the family unit and support growing families. Parents have the greatest impact on the education of children, which is why I believe parental involvement in the Iowa education system is paramount in educating the next generation,” Wieseler said.
