SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The first home built by the Sioux City Career Academy’s trades pathway students is being put up for sale.

According to the Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD), The trades pathway home will be available for public tours on April 25 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. The home will be on display at the school district’s construction trades building located at 3000 Highway 75 North.

Students began building the single-family, one-story ranch home in the fall of last year and are currently working to put on the finishing touches so the house can be completed by the April 25 open house date. Leslie Heying with SCCSD told KCAU 9 that the house-building project was originally planned to be a two-year project, but through the students’ hard work, the house was completed in half the time.

The home is 1,646 square feet and includes three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Plans move forward for Elk Point-Jefferson building space

Those who are interested in buying the home are asked to submit their bids with their full name, address, contact information including phone number and email, their bid amount, how they will be paying, and proof that they have the funds to pay the said amount. Bids are to be sent to the career academy’s principal Eric Kilburn at kilbure@live.siouxcityschools.com by May 9.
