SIOUX CITY, IOWA (KCAU) – The 18th annual Cyclone Tailgate Tour continued its Western Iowa route on Tuesday afternoon, returning to Sioux City as part of its 13-stop tour across the Hawkeye State. But it was nothing but Cyclones at the Seaboard Triumph Foods Expo Center.

This year’s tour lineup featured some of the biggest in Iowa State Athletics. Football head coach Matt Campbell, men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger, Big 12 Wrestling Coach of the Year Kevin Dresser, women’s basketball head coach Bill Fennelly, and ISU athletic director Jamie Pollard among others.

The family-friendly event included autographs and interactions with ISU coaches, as well as giveaways for ISU contests. Signatures, smiles, and even mascot “Cy” joined in the meet-and-greet fun, all in celebration for Iowa State and the loyalty of Cyclone Nation.

“What’s always been special about Iowa State and certainly our program is this ability to be unified with our fan base,” Iowa State football head coach Matt Campbell said. “I think it’s what has made it really special to either play at Iowa State and coach at Iowa State is that you’re really unified as one with your fanbase.”

“I love hearing the stories of I used to go to the game with my grandfather and now those tickets are passed on and those sort of things so it’s definitely a generational thing with Iowa State,” Iowa State men’s basketball head coach T.J. Otzelberger said.

“As our fight song says ‘loyal sons and daughters, forever true’,” Iowa State director of athletics Jamie Pollard said. “Cyclone fans are very loyal and that passion and loyalty shows up at events like this.”

The Cyclone Tailgate Tour departed from Sioux City to Okoboji for its next stop from 5:30-7:30pm on Tuesday evening. Final stop of the tour is set for Clear Lake on Wednesday.
