SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Missouri River Boat Club had its grand reopening just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

The community celebrated with a ribbon cutting Friday, officially opening the new clubhouse. The club had closed its doors back in 2020 after erosion underneath the original building made it unsafe. Many community supporters, volunteers, and club officials attended the cutting and made this project possible.

The club was able to raise money for the new clubhouse with fundraisers.

“We had fundraisers, and we had a dry rock to raise money,” Missouri River Boat Club Fleet Captain Dennis Butler said. “Individuals actually donated money and then we had contractors donate services and supply new material for us. Right now our assessment is right around $420,000, $430,000.

Butler said the reopening is very exciting.

“I think all our members are very happy right now and the public is very happy because there is no place on the river, Jolly’s closed, the Marina is closed , we’re the only place in town, said Butler.”

The clubhouse is open to the public seven days a week.
