UNION COUNTY, S.D. ( KCAU ) — Officials have announced a new speed limit for roads surrounding Dakota Valley schools.

According to a post from the Union County Highway Department, the Dakota Valley School District has requested the speed limit be reduced to accommodate traffic levels caused by floodwaters disrupting normal routes.

The post states that Union County Commissioners approved reducing the speed limit to 45 miles per hour on County Road 1B, Highway 105, and 1,000 feet on either side of its intersection with County Road 1, 484 Avenue, Westshore Drive.

The post specified that the reduced speed limit will be returned to normal once the traffic flow is re-established at Dakota Valley Schools.
