Two-A-Days: Remsen St. Mary’s Hawks

REMSEN, Iowa (KCAU) – Graduating just three seniors, the Remsen St. Mary’s Hawks are reloaded and ready for another big season in 2024.

The Hawks bring back 100% of its rushing and receiving yards as well as six of its top seven tacklers from 2023. Leading the charge under center is Landon Waldschmitt. The incoming senior tallied over 1,100 rushing yards and found the end zone with his legs 25 times, good for the fifth-most rushing touchdowns in 8-player football.

Keaton Harpenau grabbed almost half of the teams receptions in 2023 and will look to replicate his success this year. A solid foundation RSM aims to build more success with this season.

“We lost three great seniors that really built themselves into really good role players or First Team All-State type of players. The very first thing we had to do is try and replace them and try and figure out exactly what pieces we have and what pieces we don’t. Then, we have to continue growing the pieces that we have and each one of them, so far, early here in came have been really willing to accept some nice roles for us. So, it kind of helps us get excited for the season.” RSM head coach Tim Osterman said.

The Hawks will open up the 2024 season on the road at Harris-Lake Park on August 30th at 7pm. RSM is 13-6 against the Wolves dating back to 2006.
