    Missouri River to close temporarily for fireworks at Yankton

    YANKTON, S.D. (KCAU) — The Missouri River will be closing temporarily for a firework display in Yankton.

    To protect the well-being, safety, and public health of those attending the Riverboat Days firework display on the Missouri River during the Riverboat Days Fireworks display, temporary closure will go into effect in accordance with National Fire Protection Association codes
    for fireworks displays.

    All areas of the Missouri River from South Dakota to Nebraska shorelines within 30 yards west of Discovery Bridge east to the pipeline crossing sign 210 yards east of Riverside Park boat docks and ramps on Friday, August 16 from 10 p.m. to 11 p.m.

    This closure will only affect the river itself and will apply to motorboats, kayaks, paddleboards, and other non-motorized floatation devices as well as swimming or wading.
