ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KCAU) – After making a playoff appearance in Class 2A, a reloaded Estherville-Lincoln Central football team looks to elevate its group to the next level.

E-LC will have large shoes to fill as quarterback Owen Larson has graduated. The South Dakota State basketball recruit logged 2,592 total yards, the fourth-most offensive yards in 2A. to go along with 34 TD’s.

The team has a pair of two-way talents returning in Kale Shatto and Dylan Peta. Shatto ran for almost 300 yards last season while Peta was second on the team in tackles.

With plenty of gaps to fill, E-LC says its internal competition for playing time has helped make the team better.

“That competition breeds success. Anytime you have competition for positions, everybody is out there competing and trying to get their spot earned. This is kind of that week that we talked about of earning that spot. We learned that spot and now we’ve got to go out and earn them. It all happens in practice so we’re ready to go for Friday night.” E-LC head coach Ryan Rezac said.

E-LC begins its season at home as they are set to host the OABCIG Falcons on August 30th. The Falcons have defeated E-LC in its last three meetings.
