Two-A-Days: Pierce Bluejays

PIERCE, Neb. (KCAU) – Putting together another season that ended in the playoffs, the Pierce Bluejays are looking to retool and replenish as they head into 2024. They’re up next for Two-A-Days.

The Bluejays enter the season with an opportunity for many players to step up and fill the production left by last year’s senior class. Running back Keenan Valverde is at Dordt now, ending his Pierce tenue with 1,649 rush yards and 20 scores on the ground as a senior. An experienced returner for head coach Darin Suckstorf is two-way talent Kaiden Fritz, who was fourth on the team in tackles.

A big factor for Pierce will be the passing game as they do not return any of its receiving touchdowns from 2023, providing plenty of chances for the roster to boost its production.

“We have some guys that were juniors last year that are moving up to be seniors that have waited their turn and are ready for this experience to compete for playing time. I think we’ve got a good core, up front, of guys that will can compete and hopefully we can get a good rotation and keep everybody fresh throughout the game.” Suckstorf said.

Pierce kicks off Week 1 at Aurora on Friday, August 30th.
