    Sioux City to host its Fall Re-Event

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The City of Sioux City and the Environmental Advisory Board have announced they will be holding their semi-annual Re-Event.

    This recycling event collects materials that can be recycled, reused, and refurbished. Items accepted can not contain any liquid, food, or grease, according to a press release from the city.

    The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Citizen’s Convenience Center from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Items can be recycled with a fee, however no credit cards will be accepted.

    Household hazardous materials (HHMs), air conditions, dehumidifiers, fridges, medical/chemical equipment, propane grills, wine coolers, and PCB ballasts are not being accepted at the Re-Event.

    HHMs and other items can be disposed of at the Citizen’s Convenience Center on 28th Street Tuesday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a fee. The City of Sioux City asks to call ahead for information at 712-255-8345.

    The city also says no Styrofoam will be accepted at the event. Please call LiteForm in South Sioux City at 402-241-4402 for Styrofoam recycling.

    Accepted items are as follows:

    • Electronics and appliances (fee varies)
    • Batteries
    • Light bulbs
    • Tires
    • mattresses (with or without rims)

    The money collected will assist in covering the cost of dismantling, recycling, and proper
