PENDER, Neb. (KCAU) – The Pender Pendragons were able to rebound and finish above .500 in 2023, but the team is far from satisfied.

Pender took its 5-4 record into the playoffs, losing in the first round in the Class D-1 bracket. QB Alex Roth is back after totaling almost 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns. The Pendragons offense was a difference maker in 2023 as the team lost 3 of its 4 games when scoring 20 or fewer points.

A team with plenty of youth, Pender feels they’ve used the experience from last year to improve its play and confidence.

“I’m very confident in the amount of work these guys do. We have some guys shuffling into new position. But throughout the summer seeing the success they’ve had at camps and things like that, we’re very confident in what they’re going to be able to do.” Pender head coach Cody Volk said.

The Pendragons will start its season at home, hosting the Plainview Pirates on Friday, August 30th.
