MERRILL, Iowa (KCAU) — Despite recent setbacks, the Plywood Trail is set for the completion of their first phase this fall.

The project started back in 2022, but with the flooding in June, the foundation decided to take as much time as necessary to make sure the trail is safe for residents to enjoy. With some remaining touches left on the trail, the foundation can’t wait for it to be open to the public.

“I’m thrilled that we finally have this trail that is here, people can see it now,” Plymouth County Foundation member Lesley Bartholomew said. “I want them to be able to use it and I want to make sure it’s safe for all users, and we just want to say thank you to everyone that has believed in the trails, supported us, we’re just excited for it to open.”

When phase one is complete, the foundation plans to get started on phase two, which will stretch from Hinton to Merrill.
