    Nominees to fill vacant District 3 court vacancies selected

    SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Nominees have been selected to fill two Iowa District 3 court vacancies.

    The 3A District Judicial Nominating Commission selected District Associate Judge Andrew Smith of Alta and Assistant Attorney General Elizabeth Specketer of Rembrandt as nominees for the open 3A District Court Judge vacancy on Tuesday. The 3A District Court Judge spot became vacant when Judge John M. Sandy was appointed to the Iowa Court of Appeals.

    District 3A consists of Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Kossuth, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, and Palo Alto counties.

    Attorney Molly Joly and Attorney Melinda Wicks, both of Sioux City, were selected as nominees for the 3B District Associate Judge vacancy on Tuesday. The 3B District Associate Judge spot became vacant due to the upcoming retirement of Judge Todd A. Hensley.

    District 3B consists of Crawford, Ida, Monona, Sioux, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties.

    Governor Kim Reynolds must choose one of these nominees to fill these vacancies within the next 30 days.
