SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — A Siouxland elementary school got some extra help with their back-to-school shopping list.

For the third year in a row, Jensen Subaru has gifted funds to Riverside Elementary. The $5,000 was given to teachers to purchase supplies for their classrooms. A teacher at Riverside told KCAU 9 that past donations have made a big difference for teachers.

“Last year, we used the money, a lot of teachers, for bigger things that we can’t afford on our own,” special education teacher Kris McCarthy said. “Every teacher was able to give something extra to their students last year that we wouldn’t have been able to. So to be able to do that again this year is just an amazing gift and we’re very overwhelmed.”

Additionally, Scheels joined in and donated 80 backpacks with supplies to help students, many of whom were impacted by recent flooding.
