SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Missouri River Historical Development has awarded a $1 million grant to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Sioux City .

The grant was announced Thursday at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The money will go towards a $3.2 million project, Angeline’s Wing for Children and Families, that will expand Catholic Charities’ existing facility by 7,200 square feet.

$5,000 donated to Riverside Elementary for back-to-school supplies

“This project promises to foster economic growth by uplifting and rehabilitating youth in our community who need help,” MRHD Board President Sarah Kleber said in part in a statement. “We believe in the vision of this plan and its potential to create a lasting impact. By supporting projects such as this, we can build a brighter, more prosperous future for the people of Woodbury County.”

The expansion also involves updated facilities, equipment, technology, and more. According to a release, the new wing would allow Catholic Charities to provide youth mental health and substance use disorders outpatient services to 100 more children annually.

Catholic Charities’ existing facility is located on 1601 Military Road.
