    Winnebago man given 2 years in prison for domestic assault

    OMAHA, Neb. (KCAU) — A Winnebago man will serve two years in prison after being convicted of domestic assault as a habitual offender.

    Kelton Chilson, 29, was sentenced Friday to 24 months in prison and three years of supervised release. He was sentenced in federal court and as such will not be eligible for parole.

    According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Chilson punched a woman in the face in Sep. 2023. A witness notified authorities, who found the victim lying in a roadway with torn-off clothes and head and facial injuries. She was later found to have a broken nose.

    Chilson had a prior history of domestic violence convictions in state and tribal courts.

    The FBI investigated this case.
